Tonight for dinner we went to a place called Green Way. I had heard one recommendation for it and one against it, so I figured it should be pretty interesting. It was. I sadly have no pictures, since I did not anticipate it being deserving of them.
Our impressions about GW were not very concrete. We knew it was supposed to be healthy. However, it was unclear whether it was organic, vegetarian or what. We stared at the menu (in Polish) for a while and were not able to make much progress.
After some searching we found one English menu. It became clear that the place was vegetarian (and mostly vegan). However, what did not become clear was what we were eating. For example, if I told you something was called a "lentil chop," what would you think? Luckily, there was a woman in line with us who had very strong English and the ladies behind the counter (hippy looking characters every one) knew some as well.
The woman helped us figure out what some things were, but what was more helpful was seeing food brought out. I changed what I wanted several times as food was brought out. Starting at vegetable pancake, I saw a fruit pancake. Then an "echilada." Finally I settled on "mexican goulash," which was neither mexican nor goulash but very good.
Everything came with a lump each of shredded carrots, cabbage and cauliflower. Well, I suspect it was cauliflower anyway. The bits were very small and it had some kind of sauce on it. The goulash itself was a stew over potatoes. There were beans in it. I imagine that's why they called it mexican. There were also seitan chunks, veggies, and some things that I couldn't identify but assumed to be healthy.
They were out of carrot juice and "the cocktail of life," so I got a plum shake. It was pretty good, though not as tasty as Thomas' parsley juice.
Everything in the menu sounded bland and healthy, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. We will return there.
Tonight we are going to bed early. Tomorrow at 6 we will be on a train for Gdansk. It's on the Baltic Sea up at the northern border of Poland. We're only staying one night and it's a 7 hour train ride so we needed to make the best of our time.
The train rides should have plenty of time for sleep and for some mathematics in preparation for our meetings on Tuesday.
Philip got the lentil chop. It looked about how it sounds, actually.

Why would you post about anything else? I'd probably stop reading.
