I am doing mathematics at Łódź University in Poland for the summer. While I am here I will write a little on this site, but it exists primarily for me to share pictures.

It is strawberry season in Poland

Dear Loyal Reader,

Went to the Iron Horse Pub last night with Rafa and company. It is Harley themed. I think we may need to decrease the amount of time we spend with him, since as far as I can tell all he does is drink.

Thomas and Nathan arrived yesterday. My luggage arrived today. It included the cord that connects my camera to my computer. So I have pictures from the zoo. For the time being, I link to the facebook album; in the near future I will post images directly here.

Yesterday we met with Professor Filipczak. She gave us a little to think about for the time being. We will all four meet with her tomorrow and begin our actual work.

Today we went to what may be some kind of cafeteria. It is right next door to our dorm. We thought when we arrived that the building was condemned, but it turns out that they actually serve food there. It was pretty good.

We are finding Polish food to be pretty homogeneous. You begin with soup. This is usually żurek, a flour broth soup that includes whatever is around (such as ham, full peppercorns, potato, carrot, and an entire hard boiled egg). You eat meat (usually pork) with a starch (usually potato). Sometimes you have a vegetable (usually something pickled).

We had Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast today. Philip and I are almost done with our first jar of Nutella.
